How to Reset an Arris Router or Modem

If your network is slower than usual, it may be time to factory reset your Arris router or modem. Rolling back to factory default settings can make a big difference in network performance. Arris makes it easy to reset their devices by providing two separate methods.

Note: This will wipe your device settings. You will have to reconfigure network settings like the network name and WiFi password.

ARRIS ROUTER FACTORY RESET:

  1. Reset using the reset button
  2. Reset using the router web interface

Reset using the reset button

Most Arris routers can be reset using the Reset Button.

  1. Locate the Reset Button on your Arris modem or router (typically found on the back of the device). If you can’t find the button, search online for the router model you’re using. Most router manuals have a diagram to outline each component.
  2. When you locate the button, press and hold it for at least 15 seconds. You may need to use a pen or paperclip to push the button.
  3. Wait for the reset to complete—this process can take a few minutes.

Reset using the router web interface

It’s also possible to reset the device using the web interface.

  1. Log in to your Arris router or modem.
  2. Look for a section labeled Security or Utilities (this can vary depending on your router model).
  3. Choose the option to factory reset the device to default settings.
  4. Wait a few minutes for the reset to complete.

See more | Download Performance Slow - What is an acceptable download speed ? What is port forwarding? Also known as port mapping, this is a process where a user can tell internet traffic where to go, rather than going to a location by default. It works best if you want good performance but don’t care about getting the best performance. If your Wi-Fi router has feet, set the router on them and not on its side. If the router has feet on more than one side, you can choose either position. Kittichai Boonpong/ Getty Images Locate your router’s antennas.
