How to Change WiFi Password on Virgin Media Router

If you are a Virgin Media customer, you may want to know how to change your wifi password. It is a good idea to change your password regularly for security reasons.

In this blog post, we will walk you through the process of changing your wifi password on a Virgin Media router.

Note: The instructions provided in this guide here are for the Virgin Media Hub 3, Hub 4, and Hub 5. If you have an older Super Hub router, the instructions will vary somewhat, although Virgin should be able to provide you with a router upgrade since those models are now obsolete.

How to change your Virgin Media Wi-Fi password

First, you will need to access the router settings.

In normal router mode, you can access the Virgin Media router settings by:

  • Typing http://192.168.0.1 into your web browser
  • Entering your Virgin Media router’s username and password when prompted

Once you have entered the correct credentials, you will be taken to the Virgin Media Hub Manager.

Your router username and password can be found on the back of your Virgin Media hub.

To update your Wi-Fi password, go to the Advanced Settings page in the left-hand menu and then click Wireless, then Security.

You should now see the Change Wi-Fi Password option. You can choose various passwords for each 2.4GHz and 5GHz band if you have both switched on, but it’s simpler to make them identical.

Simply type a new password in the password field.

Note: Virgin Media uses strong encryption technology that requires passwords to be at least 10 characters long, have an uppercase letter, a lower case letter, and a number.

Now click “Apply Changes”

After you’ve applied the changes, any Wi-Fi-connected devices, including the computer on which you changed the password, will need to be amended to your new password.
